Galatasaray host Barcelona at RAMS Park on Tuesday 13 October 2026, kick-off 22:00 Istanbul time (21:00 CEST, 20:00 in the UK). It is Matchday 2 of the Champions League league phase and the first competitive meeting between these clubs in 23 years. This guide covers what actually decides whether the trip works: how tickets are sold in Turkey, how to reach a stadium on a motorway junction well outside the tourist districts, and how to get back at midnight with 50,000 other people.
What is at stake on Matchday 2
The clubs arrive from opposite ends of Matchday 1, played on 9 September. Barcelona took Feyenoord apart 5-1 at home, Raphinha scoring twice with Karim Adeyemi, Lamine Yamal and Gabriel Jesus adding the rest. Galatasaray lost 3-1 at Sporting CP, Lucas Torreira's early goal undone by Geny Catamo, Luis Suarez and Rodrigo Zalazar.
That gap shapes the atmosphere you are buying a ticket for: Galatasaray are at home on zero points, and in a 36-team league phase a second defeat leaves them chasing play-off places from Matchday 3 onward. History points the same way - eight European meetings across 1993/94, 1994/95, 2001/02 and 2002/03, Barcelona winning five to Galatasaray's one, aggregate 14-6.
RAMS Park: the venue in numbers
The full name is Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi RAMS Park, and it has carried four commercial names since opening: Turk Telekom Arena, Turk Telekom Stadium, Nef Stadium and, since 2023, RAMS Park. Locals still use all of them, so do not be thrown if your driver names one you have never heard.

The bowl is steep and fully roofed, which is precisely why that decibel figure was achievable: the sound has nowhere to go. The ultRAslan groups drive the noise, and pre-match choreography routinely involves pyrotechnics and full-stand card displays.

Can you actually get a ticket?
The away allocation and the 50 euro ceiling
UEFA obliges the home club to release at least 5% of the approved spectator capacity to the visiting club's supporters - roughly 2,650 seats at RAMS Park. UEFA also caps the price: an away ticket may not cost more than home supporters pay in a comparable sector, and in no case more than 50 euros. If you are a Barcelona member, that allocation, distributed by Barcelona rather than by Galatasaray, is by some distance the cheapest and simplest way in.
Everything else runs through a Passo card
The rest of the ground is sold through Turkey's e-ticket system, Passo. Galatasaray's announcement for their most recent Champions League home tie shows how it runs: sales opened to GSPlus Premium members and GSPara cardholders first, then to holders of a Galatasaray-branded Passo Taraftar card the following day, five days before kick-off. It is one ticket per card, and the ticket is non-transferable - the name on the card has to be the person at the turnstile.
Visitors without a Turkish ID can apply for a prepaid Passo Taraftar card at passotaraftar.com.tr with a passport, and the digital version works in the app immediately, so there is no wait for plastic (courier delivery of a physical card costs 181 TL). The sting is the annual e-ticket usage fee: 1,200 TL on Besiktas, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray-branded cards, against 250-400 TL for smaller clubs. Register weeks ahead, not on the morning of the sale.
Two warnings. Resale sites already listing this fixture are not official channels, and a ticket bought there is tied to somebody else's card - it will not get you through the gate. And Turkish authorities have occasionally barred visiting fans from the biggest Istanbul matches altogether, so check both clubs before booking anything non-refundable.
Getting there: the metro route, step by step
RAMS Park is in Seyrantepe, in the Sariyer district on the European side, sitting directly on the O-2 (TEM) beltway. The rail route is the M2 line: ride north and change at Sanayi Mahallesi onto the 1.8 km Seyrantepe branch, a shuttle running back and forth to the terminus beside the ground, a short walk from the gates. An F3 funicular platform was added at Seyrantepe in October 2017.
A single ride on an Istanbulkart costs 46.20 TL, the fare since Istanbul's transport tariff rose 10% on 20 July 2026. Buy the card once from a station machine and top it up; tapping a contactless bank card instead is billed at the higher limited-use rate.
Door to door, allow 35-45 minutes from Taksim including the change, an hour from Sultanahmet (T1 tram to Laleli-Universite, then walk to Vezneciler on the M2), and 70-90 minutes each way from Kadikoy on the Asian side.
The journey back is the real problem
A 22:00 kick-off means the final whistle lands around 23:50, and that is where the evening gets difficult. Tens of thousands of people leave at once into a station fed by a single shuttle branch, the exit is a slow packed shuffle, and the network is winding down while you queue. Plan on the return leg taking well over an hour - or plan on not using the metro at all.

Taxi, app or private driver: what each really costs
Istanbul's taxi tariff changed on the same date as the transport fares. A standard yellow taxi starts at 71.94 TL and charges 47.92 TL per kilometre, with a 230 TL minimum fare. Turquoise taxis start at 82.73 TL and charge 55.10 TL/km with a 265 TL minimum; the black VIP class starts at 122.30 TL and charges 81.46 TL/km.
Those are the legal rates, and they are reasonable. What they do not describe is availability. No taxi rank absorbs a 50,000-seat stadium emptying at once: apps surge, drivers turn selective, and a few-hundred-lira fare becomes a forty-minute wait in the cold. This is the one night of the trip where a car booked in advance stops being a luxury and becomes the practical answer.

From the airports
Istanbul Airport (IST) to RAMS Park is about 35 km and roughly 36 minutes in clear traffic, both being on the northern motorway network. Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) sits on the Asian side and means crossing the Bosphorus: budget 60-90 minutes, more at rush hour. Direct flights from Barcelona take 3 hours 35 to 3 hours 45, roughly three non-stops a day between Turkish Airlines, Vueling and Pegasus.
Where to base yourself for a Seyrantepe kick-off
Sisli, Nisantasi, Besiktas - on the M2 corridor, 25-35 minutes out, the best trade-off between logistics and somewhere to eat afterwards.
Taksim and Beyoglu - 35-45 minutes, direct on the M2, and still awake at half past midnight.
Sultanahmet - unbeatable for the monuments, about an hour each way, back at the hotel past 01:00.
Kadikoy - a superb city base and the wrong one tonight: nobody wants a Bosphorus crossing after a 22:00 kick-off.
What to do with the daylight hours
Mid-October is a good window: daytime highs around 17-20C, evenings down to 11-13C, and roughly 100 mm of rain spread over nine or so days in the month. A late kick-off in an open bowl feels colder than the forecast suggests, so pack a layer.
Because kick-off is at 22:00 the whole day is free, which is the opposite of most European away trips. A private guided tour of historic Istanbul taking in Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern fits between breakfast and late afternoon. What will not fit is the water: a private Bosphorus cruise and night tour runs into the kick-off window, so take it the night before or after.
Away-fan ground rules in Istanbul
Carry your passport. Your ticket is tied to a named card and turnstile ID checks are routine.
Arrive early. Ninety minutes out is not excessive where 50,000 people share one transport corridor.
Be deliberate about colours. Away-fan guides to this ground agree: keep club colours and opinions inside your own section, not on the metro.
Confirm the away end before booking. Visiting fans are normally put in a corner section, but allocations and bans are settled close to the match.
The matchday shape, in one line
Historic peninsula in the morning, a proper meal by 18:30, leave for Seyrantepe at 19:30, be inside by 20:30 to hear the noise build, and know before kick-off how you are getting home at 23:50. The rest of the trip is ordinary Istanbul travel; this night is not, and the return leg deserves the same planning as the ticket.
